Cavaliere is a holiday village situated on the quieter part of
the Cote d'Azur in the Var area of Provence. The main attraction
of the town is the two mile, gently sloping fine sandy beach. In
summer it bustles with the activity associated with a holiday
beach resort, however in Spring and Autumn it has a quieter
character and is a pretty base from which to discover Provence.
You can indulge in a variety of sports and spend warm days eating
at local restaurants and drinking in the various wine districts.
Not to be confused with its larger neighbour of Cavalaire (12 kms) which is more developed, this area is relatively underdeveloped. The village is surrounded by the Hills of Les Maures with its pine and oak trees, which in essence is similar to the UK's National Trust Green Belts in that there can be little or no building as the land is held in public trust.
A recent article in the Evening Standard
stated:
'The best and least visited beaches on the Riviera are west of
St. Tropez. The A7 motorway hurtles 80km or so north of here
diverting the mass tourist traffic. If you can brave the traffic
jams around St. Tropez and the narrow winding roads, this
coastline is a glimpse of how the rest of the Cote d'Azur looked
50 years ago' (Jim Keeble 11/10/99)

The Beach boasts several seasonal cafes and restaurant in tune with the French need for everything to be close at hand. In season it does get busy, but is not crammed with the obligatory mattress and umbrella vendors. However in the shoulder periods (May, Jun, July,Oct) it is much less noisy though there are still plenty of hot days well above 24 degrees centigrade.

TEMPERATURE and RAINFALLListed below is the official average daily temperatures chart for the year. Our experience is that June, July and September have temperatures regularly in the nineties during the day.
The particularly rainy months are March and November, with no rain at all in July, August and the first half of September which is why this area is so busy in those months

We could go on and on about how lovely this area is however discovering it for yourself is part of the holiday.
If you want to lie on the beach for two weeks then it is only 200 metres away, however this area has been populated since Roman times and there are a huge amount of things to discover and places to visit.
